Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park is the site of the former Utsunomiya Castle and currently a city rest area.The majority of the Utsunomiya Castle building was burnt down during the Boshin War, however in March of 2007 part of the turrets, earthworks and walls were restored.The site is host to approximately 120 cherry trees of 4 different varieties which bloom at different times allowing visitors to enjoy a longer than normal cherry blossom season.
