Futaarayama Jinja Shrine has a long history originating 1600 years ago, and enshrines the founder of Utsunomiya, Toyoki-iri-Hiko-no-Mikoto.The history of Utsunomiya is entwined with that of Futaarayama, and the majority of the festivals within the city are Futaarayama festivals.Many residents visit the shrine even today for life turning points such as new years and the shichigosan festival. The approach and gate are lit at night, making for a beautiful sight.The iron guardian dogs and the 38 star kabuto helmet are the shrine's treasures and both designated as National Art Treasures.
