The Tochigi Prefectural Museum of Fine Arts was opened in 1972 as a pioneer public modern arts museum in Japan.The collection includes modern art from all over the country but focused on Tochigi Prefecture as well as modern art from France, England, Germany, and other western European countries in addition to woodprints, illustration books, photos, and industrial arts for a total of 8000 pieces.The museum has been host to many landmark exhibitions including several exhibitions from unique perspectives and very well known.
