This 27-meter-high Kannon was carved into a wall of Oya stone quarry remains to console the souls of the war dead at the Second World War and to hope for world peace. It took six years to create the all hand-carved Kannon from 1948 to December 1954. The top of the stairs beside the Kannon offers a panoramic view of Oya Town over its shoulder.
