The Utsunomiya Museum of Art and the surrounding "Utsunomiya Culture Forest" park facilities were opened in March of 1997 for the 100th anniversary of the Utsunomiya municipal system.The collection includes art works from both Japan and overseas, mainly from the 20th century onward as well as artworks connected to Utsunomiya City. The museum also holds periodic exhibitions of superior Japanese and overseas pieces.The museum is located in a rich natural environment much loved by many people as a relaxation space and a base for artistic activities.
