Ippeizuka Inari Jinja Shrine was historically the "souja" shrine of Sano City. A "souja" is a shrine where a number of the deities enshrined in multiple shrines are all worshipped together in 1 place. The main shrine is vermillion painted in an avatar style, and the copper torii gate within the grounds is designated as a National Art Treasure. The hatsu uma matsuri (first horse day in February) has long been celebrated by large numbers of people in the past, and the nearby streets are turned into a pedestrian paradise, crowded with stalls and florists, a total of over 800 shops. The "shinkomanjyu" dumplings, said to have a good effect on health, and "plant fair" are especially popular.
