Mt. Karasawasan is located in the northeast section of Sano City at a height of approximately 240m above sea level. It is a store of natural treasures including wild grasses and azaleas, and provides an absolutely spectacular view. It is designated as a Prefectural Nature Park and sees a ceaseless number of visitors throughout the year for the spring cherry blossoms, the fall changing of the leaves and the first visit to a shrine of the new year as well as for other occasions. Karasawasan Jinja Shrine is located on the peak of Karasawasan and enshrines Fujiwara no Hidesato.
