Otome no Taki Falls is a 5m wide, and several 10’s of meters high, beautiful waterfall which flows from the Sawanagawa River from Mt. Shirazasayama, where visitors can see the many aspects of the falls in the different seasons and different amounts of water. There are several legends related to the origin of the waterfall’s name, “Otome no Taki” or “Maiden’s Falls”. One is that the falls look like the flowing hair of a gentle and beautiful maiden, another that long ago a beautiful but blind woman appeared, who was a snake in disguise and yet another which says that a beautiful mermaid appeared in waterfall basin. The falls are surrounded by clear water and clean air and is recommended as a tourist spot for those who want to refresh their body and spirit.
