The Ninomiya Sontoku Shiryo-kan is a tribute to Ninomiya Sontoku's deeds where his handwritten documents, items he owned and used and more are on display.Sontoku was given the task of revitalizing the town of Yashusakura (now part of Moka City). In 1823 he was appointed to the Sakura Town Encampment, where he took the lead in improving irrigation, weirs and bridges. Sontoku's personal experiences and the teachings he formulated were utilized during the Tempo Famine to save the lives of many people.Sontoku greatest work came when he stayed in the town of Sakura, where his plans for fiscal reform were put into practice and his name became known across Japan.
