Myoun Temple, a site with a rich history, was founded in 1184 and its current main hall was rebuilt in 1740.The sight of the main hall with its hipped roof reminds one of its glorious past.On the temple grounds is a carefully tended garden of tree peonies, of which there are over 3,000.Visitors never tire of coming when the tree peonies are in season to see the vast collection of flowers bloom with their wide, round blossoms.The temple is also known as Tree Peony Temple. Streams of visitors flood to see the flowers when they are in bloom.
