Kawakami Sumio was a wood block artist mainly during the Meiji Era when southern Namban culture and westernization were major topics. The collection includes a wide variety of painting works including wood block paintings, glass paintings, leather paintings, yaki-e, woodwork toys, earthenware and other works.
