The Fisheries Research Agency is located near the inflow point of the Yugawa River on Chuzenjiko Lake's northern shore. Research on the salmon and trout that live in Okunikko and Chuzenjiko Lake is carried out at the agency's "fish and forests observation area". Visitors can view a variety of rare fish such as the lake trout that can only be found in Chuzenjiko Lake and the Japanese huchen which is known as the "phantom fish".
