The Nikko Shinko Church Chapel is located approximately 800m west of Toshogu along the Japan Romantic Highway. The main chapel is stone construction built by the American James McDonald Gardiner and is a gothic-style structure which makes a profound impression. This is the oldest chapel in the Northern Kanto region and is designated as a Tochigi Prefecture Tangible Cultural Asset.
