The Shinkyo Bridge is a red lacquered bridge built at the entrance to Nikko's many temples and shrines. The bridges was built at the end of the Nara Period around the year 700 and was prized as a sacred bridge, and the present Shinkyo Bridge was rebuilt in 1636. The Shinkyo Bridge is one of the buildings of the Nikko Futarasan-Jinja Shrine and is designated a National Important Cultural Asset . It was also registered as a World Heritage Site in December of 1999. Visit and feel the power of the ancient and beautiful Shinkyo Bridge.
