The Nagaoka Ancient Cave Tombs are said to have been constructed long ago in the early 7th century, and is a group of 52 cave tombs.Each cave tomb has its opening facing the south, and has an image of the Kannon goddess of mercy carved on the far interior wall and is also known as the "hyaku Kannon" or 100 Kannons.
