The unique station name comes from the fact that the center of the Japanese islands lies in the Tanuma area of Sano City. Domannaka Tanuma has outstanding facilities even compared to the other limited number of roadside stations throughout the country to attract visitors, among which the fresh vegetable sales stands are particularly recommended. These stands sell fresh vegetables harvested in Sano City, and the facility is so popular that the vegetables almost always sell out completely by later in the day. Local production for local consumption is truly a spectacular thing.
