Adachi Kokokan

The "Adachi Kokokan" The Adachi Antiquarian Museum publically exhibits the collection of works of Adachi Koshichi who was a dry-goods wholesaler in the late Edo Period, and the collection consists mainly of ukiyo-e, paintings and calligraphic works and other antique works of art. Brocade pictures and armor (body armor and kabuto helmets) are also on display among which the work "Yamanba and Kintaro" by Kitagawa Utamaro is particularly precious. Large folding screen by Kano Tsunenobu who served as artist for the Edo Shogunate, Fifty-three stages of the Tokaido by Ukiyo-e master Utagawa Hiroshige, Katsu Kaishu, Okubo Toshimichi's writings, Buddhist statutes, carvings, etc. A large number of important and interesting pieces are on display at the museum.
