Nikko Romantic Highway
Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa

The site is enclosed in a grove of Japanese cedar trees in a quiet and peaceful area of absolutely breath-taking beautiful scenery. Inside the site stands the 3 story wooden structure building that served as a resting place for the Emperor. Construction of the 3 story wooden structure was considered very difficult for the technical standards at the time in 1899. The building is an amazing amalgamation of building styles from the Edo, Meiji and Taisho eras as well as a blend of Japanese and western and was designated as a National Important Cultural Asset in 2003.
